Y&R spoilers tease that things get shaken up in Genoa City in the coming weeks, and we think that one return that could send significant shock waves would be for Dylan McAvoy to return.
Y&R Spoilers Speculation: Dylan Must Return
We know Steve Burton is busy at General Hospital, so even if he’s not available to return as Dylan, we’d love to see the character recast. Sure, we know that Dylan supposedly left forever to be in witness protection after an undercover FBI deal went wrong (hmm doesn’t this sound like Chance Chancellor’s previous situation?).
However, forever usually doesn’t last too long in the world of soap operas. Dylan left in early 2017, so returning to Y&R in late 2021 or early 2022 makes sense. We think for sure, having Dylan back in town would shake things up for Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso).
Plus, we recently did a speculation that Avery Bailey Clark (Jessica Collins) should return now that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) broke up with her sister Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). In addition to Avery’s, Dylan’s return would undoubtedly add plenty of opportunities for our favorite types of twisted soap storylines. Perhaps these two would return together somehow. Or maybe it’d be a coincidence that they both come back at similar times.

Even Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) impending return could be more interesting with Dylan in the mix. These two share a pretty sordid history. While they ended up being reasonably amiable in the end, who knows what Y&R spoilers would show it would be like this time?
Mother Knows Best
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) could also use another child back on the canvas. She has Nick and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), but her storylines aren’t what they could be. Perhaps the addition of Dylan could spice things back up for his mom.
After all, they didn’t get to spend too many years together as mother and son. We’d love to see Nikki get to be Dylan’s mom again. Overall, Dylan’s return could touch the lives of many of our favorite residents in Genoa City.
