That’s when Lola saw her out. She suggested her mother go watch the fireworks from the park, but she feigned being tired. Well, if you’re tired, go home and sleep, Lola said. In fact, she told her to go home to a quiet apartment, and Celeste relented.
Lola was glad to be rid of her mother so she could finally spend alone time with Kyle, but she still knows her mom isn’t going anywhere soon — nor is she finding a new place to live.
