The Young and the Restless day ahead recap for Wednesday, July 4th features an Independence Day to remember. A romantic afternoon turned grim, Hilary saw the error of her ways, and the teens got in some big trouble!
Hil Always Bounces Back!
Hilary (Mishael Morgan) planned the perfect Hilary Hour show but it all fell apart when her guest didn’t show up.
However, she took the hit like a champ and improvised by asking the Ashby family to take the stage. While the odd request threw Lily off for a minute, she and the others gladly obliged and even did their best to contribute.
Lily, the kids, and Abby (Melissa Ordway) went on air to share what Independence means to them. The Ashbys were more than gracious but the real story came when Hil put Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) on the spot.
Tessa told of how living in the USA gives people the freedom to be who they really are and love who they want (Was that a hint for Mariah?)
More Shady Texts
Tessa even went back on stage to close out the show with the national anthem, giving Hil a new appreciation for her. Unfortunately, Tessa had a lot on her mind as she got yet another cryptic text.
Ester Has Her Say
Later, Esther ran into the Ashbys at the rooftop party and told Cane how much she’s worried about the excavation plans. Digging up Phillip’s body is going way too far and she hopes he’ll stand up for the Chancellors and put a stop to it.

It’s Billy’s (Jason Thompson) birthday and he had big plans to celebrate the day. He wanted to hop on “Jaboat” with Phyllis and spend the afternoon out at sea.
It sounded all fine and good until a stop at the office got he and Phyllis stuck in the elevator. No problem, though, the two make an afternoon revisiting those days they were hiding their affair from Jack.
Arturo Turned Up The Heat!
Thankfully, they were found when Arturo (who shut off the power for renovations) had to use the elevator to bring up supplies and sent Abby down after she surprised him with some holiday festivities.
The sight was quite a shock for Arturo (Jason Canela) and his crew but all’s well that ends well.
In fact, the scene gave Arturo a few ideas of his own and he romanced Abby right into an Athletic Club room where the two made love for the first time.
