The Young and the Restless shoots in sunny Southern California, but Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea, began her career in daytime on All My Children, which shot in New York City. Recently, the Daytime Emmy-nominated star shared a memory from her days in the Big Apple that she shared with pals from AMC and One Life to Live.

“#tbt 2007, Ringing the NASDAQ bell with these talented humans, representing ABC Daytime & Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS,” Egan posted on her Instagram account. “Such a special (chilly) NYC morning!”

Appearing in the photo in Egan’s post are, from left, Renee Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline, One Life to Live), Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair, OLTL), an unidentified man, Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca, AMC), Egan, Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr, OLTL), and Brent Weber (ex-Sean, AMC).

Egan’s time in Pine Valley pre-dates her debut as Annie Novak in 2006. The actress actually appeared on the show as an extra when she was 12 years old in a scene that took place at a baseball game. Originally, Annie was portrayed as a heroine, a young mom to little Emma, trying to escape an abusive ex.

Annie fell in love with Ryan Lavery (Cameron Mathison). They faced opposition from Ryan’s ex, Greenlee (Rebecca Budig), but eventually, the couple tied the knot and became even more of a family unit after it was revealed that Ryan was Emma’s biological pop.

Later, Annie went down some dark paths, which provided Egan with incredible acting opportunities and challenges. Among her misdeeds were killing her brother Richie (Billy Miller), staging a car crash, killing Di Henry (Kelli Giddish), assaulting two orderlies at Oak Haven as she was escaping from the facility, and stabbing Erica Kane (Susan Lucci)!

Egan showed her love for AMC by returning to the show in the summer of 2011 after it was announced that the beloved program was going off the air. In 2011, Egan joined YR as Chelsea Lawson, a con artist, who is currently recovering from a stroke. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
