The Young and the Restless spoilers show that even more trouble might be coming to Rey and Sharon’s lives. Noemi Gonzalez hit the ground running when she made the scene as Rey’s estranged spouse Mia. She romanced both Rey and his brother Arturo, leaving town with the latter once it was revealed she was pregnant with Arturo’s child.
But what if Arturo (Jason Canela) turned out not to be the father? After all, The Young and the Restless has played with paternity results in the past. Jill (Jess Walton) and the late Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) were revealed to be daughter and mother until a new writing regime stepped in and undid the tale.
Viewers also learned that Danny (Michael Damian) is not the bio pop of Daniel (Michael Graziadei) since Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) fudged the paternity tests.
Mia returning to Genoa City with the news that Rey is the father of her child would certainly throw his relationship with Sharon (Sharon Case) into disarray. The pair is already tackling the challenge of Sharon’s cancer. How would Rey finding out he’s a father affect his commitment to Sharon?
Of course, there’s the question of how and why the initial results showed that Arturo was the dad. Who could benefit from Rey leaning in towards a relationship with Sharon over Mia? Who has had access in the past to DNA labs and experience in changing paternity test results? That would be none other than Phyllis (Michelle Stafford)!
And if Phyllis were innocent in such a scenario, how would she react to those who falsely accused her? Still, it’d be understandable that Phyllis would do such a thing. If the flame-haired character wanted to clear a pathway to a reunion with Nick (Joshua Morrow), she’d have to get Sharon out of the way. What better way to do that than to make sure she and Rey are unencumbered with a baby he’d conceived with Mia?
Phyllis may not have had Nick in her line of vision at the time of the paternity test, but she’s often managed to stay one or two steps ahead of those around her. Mia returning with a baby would not only affect dynamics between Nick, Phyllis, Rey, and Sharon, but an available Arturo would throw a potential wrench into the romance between Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Chance (Donny Boaz).
Could one little baby be responsible for rippling drama? In a word: Yes! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
