The Young and the Restless spoilers for Monday, July 20, 2020 kicks of fan favorites week with a real treat for the fans– the first two episodes of YR, which aired on March 26 and March 27, 1973. Brad Elliot arrives in Genoa City… join him in meeting the Brooks and Foster families. (And don’t go looking for any Abbotts or Newmans, they’re a decade away.)
Brad (not Don Diamont, he’s almost two decades away, this one is played by Tom Hallick) has lost his memory after a mugging. (He really lost it after a trauma. It has to do with his son and his previous profession as a surgeon.)
He stumbles into a diner and meets newspaper publisher Stuart Brooks. Stuart offers Brad a reporting job because obviously an amnesiac he found by the side of the road can write. How hard can it be?
Stuart has four daughters, Lori (short for Lauralee, named after YR creator Bill Bell’s daughter), Leslie, Christine, and Peggy. Brad can have his pick! (Stuart is very generous. And very trusting.)
He picks shy Leslie. And sticks by her – even after he remembers who he truly is. And what he did.
In addition to the Brooks family, there are also the Fosters. Snapper (not David Hasselhoff yet), Greg, and Jill, plus their mother, Liz. The Brooks are rich but generous, the Fosters are poor but honest. Everyone is just so darn good. Will there be any conflict on this show? Well, maybe not all the Fosters are angels. Have you met Jill (then-Brenda Dickson)?
As for the Brooks family, keep your eyes on Lori (Jaime Lyn Bauer – she’s the only one to play the role without a recast). She has a tendency to want whatever her sister, Leslie, has. And soon, Leslie will have Brad… The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
