The Young and the Restless spoilers (YR) reveal the stunning reason that Reed Hellstrom is acting out!

Because he knows it all, Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) wakes up late on the day of his DUI hearing. He isn’t going to court.

Victoria (Amelia Heinle) nearly goes nuclear while JT (Thad Luckinbill) runs interference to keep his ex-wife from blowing her top. Ultimately, he convinces Reed he needs to take off his holey t-shirt and dirty sweatpants, put on a suit, and show up in court. Combing his hair, though? Too much to ask.

In court, a somewhat subdued looking Reed puts on a reasonable act for the judge. That is, until his unhinged outburst when Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) bursts in the door and demands to be heard.

Risking contempt of court, Matie speaks out, and ultimately changes the judge’s mind. Of course, the judge’s new, harsher sentence probably isn’t what Mattie originally envisioned when she rushed to the court to speak on Reed’s behalf…

Reed heads home from court with a $400 fine, a 1-year suspended license, and 25 hours of community service.

When Victoria declares he’ll be paying his own DUI fine, Reed reveals the surprising real reason he’s been acting out.

He applied for and failed to get into a special summer music program, which of course means he’ll never be a ‘real’ musician and his life is practically over with his hopes and dreams crushed… It’s tough to make good choices when things don’t go your way in Genoa City.

Naturally, Victoria’s reaction is that Reed go to boarding school because that will absolutely fix everything (right?). There’s no way that the time and support of his two parents would help things, would it?

Of course, the starving artist may not be around for long enough to be shipped off to boarding school by the looks of things. You’ll never believe what Reed does next!

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listing for air times.
