Devon is a grand gesture kind of guy but The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal he may cross one too many lines. His generous nature is great — until his giving ways get him into big trouble with his new girlfriend. Grab your snacks because you will not want to miss this money-motivated showdown!
Neil’s words of paying it forward hit Devon (Bryton James) hard. He jumped into honoring his father’s wishes with both feet and decides to make dreams come true. First, he gave Mariah (Camryn Grimes) then he sets up a massive surprise for Elena (Brynti Sarpy). He wants to make her life easier and pays off all her student loans!
Talk about a shocker! Elena is used to going it alone and a very independent woman. Getting a notification about being debt free blindsided her and she makes a beeline for her boyfriend.
Did he do this? Of course, he did. And, why couldn’t be since he has a boatload of money!
Well, do not expect this random act of kindness to sit well with Elena at all. In fact, it will make her blood boil.
This is too much – MUCH TOO MUCH. Money might not mean much to Devon but Elena knows what it is like to struggle and takes great pride in providing for herself.
This definitely is not something Devon is used to. Hilary (rest her soul) loved being married to one of the richest men around. Diamonds, designer dresses, and posh surroundings were fringe benefits of being with Devon and Hil soaked it in.
Elena’s temper is set to go off while Devon tries to state his case. He did not do this because they were dating; he did it because his dad told him to give back.
What better way than to take care of someone’s massive debt? He is just paying back his good fortune (pun intended) by making her life a little easier.
Will Devon manage to talk Elena off the edge? Even if he does, how long will the peace between them last? Once money becomes an issue it can stay that way for a very long time. (Just ask Kyle.)
