The Young and the Restless spoilers (YR) reveal Charlie’s unexpected plans during an innocent conversation about the future.
Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) planned an entire family day for themselves, the twins, and Sam. Unfortunately, Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) last minute staff meeting forced Lily to cancel on her family, leaving Cane to break the bad news.
Thankfully, Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) and Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) handle the sudden disappointment with surprising maturity.
In fact, Mattie announces her plans to use the extra time to study for her SAT despite the fact that she scored well the first time she took the test.
As for Charlie, well, he sees no need to study for some boring old test because he doesn’t need it. How would he not need to take the SAT? Well, he announces, to the shock of both his dad and sister, that he intends to pursue a career in the music industry and skip college altogether!
Charlie’s words stun Mattie beyond belief, and Cane feels none too thrilled either. Charlie has every advantage, and certainly, he should see himself as college-bound in the near future. Not everybody has this type of situation, so why not make good use of everything that’s available?
Later, Charlie shows up at Crimson Lights where he runs into Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) mentee, Shauna (Camryn Hamm). She was on her way out, but sparks flew. Perhaps these two might see more of each other in the future.
However, Shauna certainly won’t love hearing that the boy born with a proverbial silver spoon in his mouth plans to throw away an opportunity to get a good education while she’s stuck struggling with how to pay for one.
Charlie sees Devon (Bryton James) and Hilary and joins them. Again, he shocks the adults with his claim to not need college. His uncle Devon wastes no time lecturing him on the importance of an education and the fact like people like Hilary actually worked hard to make ends meet to get a degree.
Even so… Charlie’s not feeling it. And honestly? Maybe Charlie has a point. College isn’t always for everyone. If he knows what he wants to do, perhaps he should learn the music business and charge full steam ahead into the world. It’s not like he can’t choose college at a later time. Right?
