The Young and the Restless spoilers for May 4-8, 2020, reveal a special week dedicated to Victor and Nikki Newman – the soap couple who brought new meaning to the phrase, “It’s complicated.”
Last week, Katherine Chancellor (the late, great Jeanne Cooper) was given her chance to shine as YR shows classics until they can safely get back into production. Now it’s time to relive some of the all-time greatest moments shared between Victor (Eric Braden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). Each day brings a new year and fresh complications for this love-struck pair to traverse.
On Monday, May 4, viewers will be transported back to October 31, 1981. Victor and Nikki are only a few weeks removed from their first face-to-face meeting and he has invited her to visit the Newman Ranch.
But it’s not going to be all moonlight and roses for these two. Oh, no. Victor is absolutely smitten with the young exotic dancer but he’s also out to determine whether she values a man for his monetary worth or for the person that he is inside.
Therefore, he’s posing as an odd-jobs man and a butler who tends to every whim of the ranch’s “owner,” Colonel Douglas Austin. And while “penniless” Victor can’t offer Nikki much, the “wealthy” Colonel can shower her with gifts. Which man will Nikki choose?
Fast forward to six years later. Victor and Nikki have married but a supposedly terminal illness led Mrs. Newman to push her husband towards Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). Ashley, Nikki felt, would be the perfect woman to take her place in Victor’s life (and bed) once she was gone.
But now Nikki’s recovered – a true miracle of modern science! – and she’s determined to reclaim her man. The only trouble is, Victor’s fallen in love. And though it seems he and Ashely have been driven apart, for good, that doesn’t mean he’s ready to return to Nikki.
Victor and Nikki did indeed reunite… only to divorce and take other partners. She exchanged vows with Jack Abbott and he wed Ashley. But the affection the former marrieds had for one another remained.
In the episode airing Wednesday, May 6, Nikki – slowly but surely succumbing to alcoholism – attempts to get a rise out of her ex by performing one of her old strip routines… inside the palatial Colonnade Room, with her current husband witnessing the whole exchange!
The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal the year 1998 was not being kind to Nikki. She had involved herself with a man who possessed a dangerously unstable ex and as a result, she now lies in a hospital bed recovering from multiple gunshot wounds!
The only thing that had imbued Nikki with the strength to stave off death was Victor agreeing to marry her – despite his involvement with Diane Jenkins – but where does the couple go from here?
Down the marriage aisle of course! Since that bedside wedding wasn’t exactly legal, Nikki and Victor needed to say, “I do” again – and they couldn’t have picked a better spot. Especially since the Colonnade Room served as the setting of their first nuptials.
If only they were aware of the fact that Ashley was concurrently admitting that Victor was the biological father of her daughter, Abby. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
