With the lack of The Young and the Restless spoilers out there, there’s been an interesting thread running through The Young and the Restless reruns. Whether the theme is Newmans, Winters, villains, weddings, there’s… Cassie.

We’ve watched Grace find Cassie (Camryn Grimes), Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) fight for custody of Cassie, Cassie as a mouthy teen, Cassie in an accident, Cassie’s death, the fallout from Cassie’s death, and the mourning of Cassie’s death. That’s a whole lot of Cassie.
Imposter
Sure, Camryn Grimes is still on the show as Sharon’s previously unknown ‘other’ twin daughter, Mariah. The one who was kidnapped at birth and raised in a cult. The cult leader she thought of as her father who tried to marry her. It was very disturbing. But with all these looks back at Cassie, could The Young and the Restless be planning to bring the little Newman back? There are two possibilities.
One and the Same
One, Cassie’s death was faked and she was spirited away… somewhere. By someone. For some reason. An enemy of Victor’s (Eric Braeden), perhaps? Or as revenge against Nick Adam seems like a good candidate for that level of evil. And he has experience with the whole faking your death thing.

Two, but what if… Cassie’s death was still faked and she was spirited away… by Ian Ward (Ray Wise)? What if there was no twin? What if Ian brainwashed Cassie into thinking she was her own identical twin?
That is very much an Ian kind of plan. He did it for evulz. But also for the money. What if his plan to marry Mariah actually had a second level? He knew she was really Cassie. And once that was revealed, she’d be an heir to the Newman fortune – and so would Ian?
