It's a Phyllis Summers extravaganza!

Michelle Stafford assumed the role of Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless on October 18, 1994. She left in 1997 when another actress played the role. Stafford returned in 2000, then took off again in 2013. Viewers watched yet another Phyllis until 2019, after which Stafford reclaimed her part again. Y&R is celebrating 30 years of Phyllis.

Here’s a Story

Phyllis’ granddaughter, Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant), just lost her mom. Naturally, Phyllis wants to cheer Lucy up. And what better way to do that than by talking about herself? Surely, everyone loves to hear Phyllis make herself the center of any drama.

Since she’s talking to Lucy, though, we do wonder which part of her life Phyllis will choose to share with the teen. Will she talk about how she drugged and seduced Lucy’s grandpa, Danny (Michael Damien), then lied and claimed he was Daniel’s (Michael Graziadei) father? That’s a good one! Will she share about the woman she probably killed to keep her secret? How about how she tortured Lucy’s other grandpa, Paul (Doug Davidson), because he dared to marry Christine (Lauralee Bell), the woman Danny truly loved? Good times.

Not Myself

Since Gina Tognoni was playing Phyllis at the time, Phyllis probably won’t stroll down memory lane to advise Lucy about how Phyllis was married to Jack (Peter Bergman) but had an affair with Billy (Jason Thompson) during that time. (This is a shame because that story also includes how Victor [Eric Braeden] kidnapped Jack, replaced him with a lookalike, and had that guy repeatedly rape Phyllis due to her thinking he was her husband. That plot point should never be swept under the rug.)

As a result, we also likely won’t hear about Summer (Allison Lanier) sleeping with Billy to stick it to her mom. Yeah, Supergirl had her moments, too.

Back to Me

But then we’re back to Stafford and Phyllis’ wacky pranks…like faking her death. Oh, what a kidder she is! Certainly, no one was hurt by her actions. Well, except for the guy she killed. Yeah, this is going to cheer Lucy right up.
