The Young and the Restless spoilers for Thursday, August 1, push Billy, Devon, and Chance to the forefront as each one flexes their version of power in their own way.
Billy (Jason Thompson) feels justified in taking over Chancellor Industries. After all, who better to run a family company than the son of the woman who had an affair with the man who inherited it from his wife’s first husband? That’s what family is all about!
But Billy isn’t selfish. He will allow Lily (Christel Khalil) to help him run the company. After all, she did such a great job running it by herself, it’s the least he can do; letting her learn from his brilliance. And Lily was willing to play along. Until her ex goes too far, and now all bets are off.
Devon (Bryton James) has hated the idea of Lily working with Billy from the start. Why should his sister play second fiddle to her ex-boyfriend when she could be playing it to her brother, like their dad would have wanted, right?
Devon took his share of Chancellor-Winters and went home. That should have been the end of it. It’s not the end of it, especially now that Billy is trying to rewrite the terms they agreed on.
Chance (Conner Floyd) knows what it’s like to be the third-wheel step-parent. Is he even still allowed visits with Dominic, the way Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon promised back in the day?
This is why he understands why Summer (Allison Lanier) is fighting so hard for a place in Harrison’s (Redding Munsall) life — because, legally, she doesn’t have a leg to stand on. This is why, when Summer turns to Chance for advice, he answers not from a place of reason but from a place of sympathy, which might not be what the situation actually calls for.
