The Young and the Restless spoilers for Thursday, June 6, tease that viewers will finally get the answers we’ve been looking for regarding what happened to Ashley in Paris that prompted her to turn into multiple different people in her head. But will those answers come from Alan’s therapy or Ashley finally letting down her guard?

Ashley (Eileen Davidson), Traci (Beth Maitland), and Alan (Christopher Cousins) have pretty much narrowed down the source of Ashley’s Paris trauma as a meeting she had with Alan’s twin brother, Martin, on the assumption that he was Alan.
Martin either said something or did something that horrified Ashley so much that she had to invent not one, not two, but three alters to protect her from facing it. That is some serious trauma. Surely, once the show finally reveals it, it will seem worthy to the characters and the audience alike.
The Worst Witch
Ashley has had mental breakdowns before. There was the one when they found out John (Jerry Douglas) wasn’t her biological father. There was the one after she aborted Victor’s (Eric Braeden) baby. There was the one after she was in a car accident, which caused the stillbirth of her and Brad’s (Don Diamont) son. So what Matin did to her had to be worse than that, right?
Maybe Yes, Maybe No
Not necessarily. Could it be that Martin simply reminded Ashley of something she hadn’t thought of in decades? Ashley was already on edge after a fight with Tucker (Trevor St. John). He accused her of choosing her family over him. Could Martin’s words have reminded Ashley that the Abbotts weren’t really her family? That she wasn’t really an Abbott?
Or that she could have had a family with her child and Victor? (Abby [Melissa Ordway] doesn’t count because, well, does Abby ever count?) Or maybe he made her wonder what she could have done to save the baby she lost? Martin somehow connected her current angst to past breakdowns. He’s good. Maybe Ashley and Alan will finally realize how good.
