The Young and the Restless spoilers for Wednesday, May 20, tease growing concern surrounding Nick as Victoria finally confronts her brother about his recovery. Meanwhile, Victor escalates his war against a rival by unleashing Michael, while Sally starts fearing Billy’s past mistakes may be catching up with him all over again.

Key Takeaways

  • Victoria confronts Nick about his recovery.
  • Victor orders Michael to strike back against a rival.
  • Sally worries Billy is slipping into dangerous old patterns.

Victoria Stops Pretending Nick Is Fine

Victoria (Amelia Heinle) finally reaches a breaking point with Nick (Joshua Morrow). For days, the Newman family has watched him spiral deeper into obsession over Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) while insisting he still has everything under control. Victoria clearly no longer believes that.

Unlike Victor (Eric Braeden), who tends to respond with control and intimidation, Victoria approaches Nick from a much more emotional place. She knows her brother well enough to recognize when fear, guilt, and stress start pushing him toward destructive decisions. Between the pill addiction, the secrecy, and his fixation on personally stopping Matt, Nick has become increasingly unstable.

The problem is that Nick does not respond well when people question his judgment, especially family members. The more Victor, Adam (Mark Grossman, who hinted at upcoming emotional scenes), and now Victoria push him to admit he needs help, the more defensive he becomes.

At the same time, Victoria may be one of the few people Nick cannot easily dismiss. Their relationship has always carried a different kind of honesty than many of the other Newman dynamics. If Victoria believes his recovery is unraveling, Nick may finally be forced to hear how serious the situation has become.

Victor Sends Michael Into Another War

Elsewhere, Victor decides it is time to strike back against a rival and turns to Michael (Christian Le Blanc) to make it happen. That rarely leads anywhere peaceful.

Victor has spent weeks balancing multiple wars at once between Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), Cane (Billy Flynn), Matt Clark, and the growing instability inside his own family. Now, however, it appears he is done waiting for situations to resolve themselves naturally.

Whenever Victor fully unleashes Michael legally, things tend to escalate fast. Michael knows exactly how ruthless Victor expects him to be, even if he occasionally struggles morally with where those lines end. Given how many enemies Victor currently has circling around him, the bigger question may be which rival he is targeting first.

Sally Starts Seeing Warning Signs in Billy Again

Meanwhile, Sally (Courtney Hope) becomes increasingly concerned that Billy’s (Jason Thompson) past behavior is starting to resurface. Billy has spent years cycling between confidence, impulsiveness, and self-destruction, depending on how much pressure builds around him.

Sally knows that pattern better than most because she has repeatedly watched him convince himself he can handle situations right before everything collapses. Now, Billy is becoming more emotionally reactive again, and Sally starts worrying that old habits may not be as buried as either of them hoped.

That concern matters because Sally has worked hard to build something stable with Billy. If she starts believing his self-destructive side is returning, it could create cracks in their relationship very quickly.
