Soap Star Opens Up About Heartbreaking Loss

Melissa Claire Egan exited The Young and the Restless earlier this year when Chelsea’s con artist ways resurfaced. Now, the actress is sharing a heartbreaking tale with her fans.

Egan, who played Chelsea Lawson Newman on Y&R, is wed in real-life to CBS executive Matt Katrosar. The couple was expecting a baby earlier this year, but sadly, tragedy struck.

The actress, also known to soap fans for her run as Annie on All My Children, was in the hospital last January after suffering a miscarriage at eight weeks pregnant. She said she’s been very candid with her family and friends about her and her husband’s quest to have children.

Egan said she’s decided to go public now after hearing of another friend’s loss. This friend said she felt on her own with the emotional pain and hearing Egan’s story helped her.

She wants to help other women who are going through what she has. “I promise you you’re not alone,” she wrote.
