Soap operas The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful are filling the days until they can resume shooting and airing new episodes with “classic reruns” arranged by themes.
Soap Operas In The Age Of COVID
There were The Nurses’ Balls and the Summer of Sonny (not to be confused with the fall, winter, and spring of Sonny the rest of the time) on GH, classic couples, weddings, and villains on YR, and so much fashion on BB!
Dizzy Days
The problem is, though, none of those episodes are airing in any kind of order. So, on YR, we see teenage Cassie die one week, middle school Cassie at Victor and Nikki’s wedding the next, and teeny, tiny Cassie meeting Sharon for the first time the week after that.
Wouldn’t it be better if YR took two weeks to tell her story in chronological order? You don’t have to show every episode from the nearly year-long storyline, but how about some highlights – in order?
Before There Was?
It’s not like GH has a shortage of classic episodes. Thousands of viewers have only heard of Luke and Laura on the run or stopping the evil weather machine. Maybe we’d like to see those reruns in order, culminating with the record-breaking Spencer wedding.
And if it must be all Sonny all the time, how about showing him with Brenda, from the early days when he went from thug to romantic leading man?
Stephanie: Matriarch Madness
BB’s Eric periodically speaks of his very complicated relationship with Stephanie. And so does Brooke. Have you never heard of that famous maxim: Show don’t tell. Let’s see the Queen B(B) in all her glory. Don’t skip her calling Brooke “The Slut From the Valley!”
