The Young and the Restless viewers know that Amanda Sinclair is an ace attorney who succeeded despite her lack of family assistance. So when Sutton Ames visited Amanda to try to talk her out of testifying against him, we loved seeing her let him have it. For that, Soap Hub presents Performer of the Week honors for Y&R on Amanda’s portrayer, Mishael Morgan.
Mishael Morgan – Performer Of The Week
When Amanda opened the door to see Sutton (Jack Landron), her body language and words revealed she wasn’t happy to see him. So while she probably should’ve slammed the door in his face, she opened it instead, and we were glad to see Mishael Morgan’s powerful performance as Amanda took her grandfather to task in dramatic fashion.
We felt Amanda’s intense pain, and we weren’t at all sad when she admitted that some part of her wanted revenge against Sutton. The fury rolled off her in almost visible waves. All of his excuses or reasons why Amanda should help him stay out of prison sounded hollow, and true to form, Amanda knew when she smelled a rat. She didn’t let Sutton get away with rewriting history or telling lies to convince her that he needed to stay out of prison.
Finally, when she realized that Sutton had ulterior motives for his visit, Mishael Morgan really shined. Amanda realized that her grandfather had a recording device, and she insisted that he empty his pockets before she let him leave. We loved seeing her fiery fury and flashing eyes as she demanded Sutton give it up.
Overall, the scenes left us hoping that Y&R decides to show the trial and Amanda’s testimony on-screen instead of off-screen the way they’ve done so often lately.
