It’s hard to believe but a quarter of a century has gone by since Sharon Case took on the part of Sharon Newman on The Young and the Restless. Two performers had previously played her, but as far as YR was concerned Case was the right actress for the role! Here’s a look back at six spectacular on and off-screen “Sharon” moments over the last 25 years!

Dreaming Of Nicholas
Sharon fell for Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) upon meeting the handsome heir. She dreamed of what it would be like not only to have a future with him but also imagined being the lady of the Newman ranch!

Sharon envisioned herself in an outfit similar to Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) and what it would be like walking around the ranch as if she owned it. Not surprisingly, Nikki kept her guard up about Sharon!

Vigil For Noah
It appeared as if Noah, Sharon and Nick’s newborn son, wasn’t going to live. She kept a tearful vigil by her baby’s incubator. Then, a miracle occurred – Noah lived! This threw a wrench into the plan of her pal Grace who was set to reunite Sharon with her long-lost daughter Cassie.

Eventually, Sharon learned that the darling little moppet was the child she’d given up for adoption. Sharon, Nick, Cassie, and Noah soon formed a family.

Emmy Gold
Case is known for poignant, heartfelt performances that mesmerize and draw viewers into scenes. Her powerful work led to a Daytime Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1999.

Case’s formidable competition included All My Children actresses Jennifer Bassey (Marian Colby) and Kelly Ripa (Hayley Vaughan), Sunset Beach’s Kathleen Noone (Aunt Bette) and Guiding Light’s Beth Ehlers (Harley). Case’s clip had Sharon blasting Nick for his extra-marital affair. In her speech, Case thanked head writers Bill Bell and Kay Alden, and the show’s producers, cast, and creative personnel.

Cassie’s Death
In a story that still is playing out today, YR made the dramatic decision to kill off Cassie (Camryn Grimes). Sharon and Nick stayed by their daughter’s bedside until she transitioned to the other side.

Unable to share their grief, Nick drifted away from Sharon and into an affair with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). Sharon proved how calculating she could be – and also showed what a rocking body she has – when she tricked Nick into meeting her a hotel room.

He thought a scantily-clad Phyllis would be there waiting for him, but instead, it was Sharon – wearing the same sexy underwear that Nick thought Phyllis would wear.

Paris In Love
Sharon and Nick shared a romantic kiss in Paris. It didn’t lead to a permanent reunion, but the smooch was a reminder that no matter how many times they drift into affairs and even marriages with other people, odds are they’re going to end up together, eventually.

A new writing regime explained Sharon’s later erratic behavior by diagnosing the character as being bipolar. Case played this storyline like she does every tale — with professionalism, class, and passion!

Chemistry Lesson
It seems no matter who YR pairs Sharon with – Dylan, Rey or Adam – Case has chemistry with them! There don’t appear to be any immediate plans to unite Sharon and Nicholas, but the two will always be drawn together by their children. There’s also Cassie’s memory that binds them together.

As Case heads into her next 25 years on YR, viewers can expect from the actress performances that are powerful, poignant, subtle, and memorable. Soap Hub joins Case’s fans in wishing her a happy 25th anniversary and many happy returns! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
