Just like her namesake in the play by William Shakespeare, Juliet has met an untimely death on The Young and the Restless. Her threat to Cane and Lily’s love is now a moot point.
But what’s going to happen to Juliet and Cane’s son? The infant’s without a mother, but will he be without a home?
Father’s Daze
Cane wasn’t expecting for Juliet to die in childbirth. His life’s been thrown into a whirlwind ever since he took that trip to Japan. He lost his job, watched his marriage fall apart, and learned he was going to become a father once more.
There has to have been a part of Cane that was thinking he’d reunite with Lily (Christel Khalil) and play weekend dad to his son with Juliet. Now, that’s not going to happen.
And Baby Makes Five
A logical move would be for Cane and Lily to reunite and raise Juliet’s baby.
Technically, this wouldn’t be the first baby Lily mothered who didn’t grown in her body as Mac acted as surrogate to help bring Charlie and Mattie into the world. (Lily’s cancer diagnosis made carrying a baby to term problematic.)
While Y&R may not need yet another baby on the show (births in recent years include: Johnny, Katie, Connor, Christian, and Bella), Juliet’s son, ironically, might help unite Cane and Lily just as the boy’s late mom helped drive them apart.
Upstairs To The Attic
We’ve seen Cane have a one-way phone call with Juliet’s dad, who seemingly has no interest in his grandson, let alone his daughter when she was in crisis. So, it’s not likely that the newborn will be taken into his mother’s side of the family.
We can’t think of any other character on Y&R who’s infertile and wants a child. (Maybe Y&R could have set it up where another character on the show was hoping to adopt?)
There’s always the possibility that the boy may simply disappear like other TV characters have such as All My Children’s Bobby (who went upstairs to the attic, never to be seen again!), Happy Days’ Chuck, and you know who we never saw in any of the Brady Bunch revivals, TV-movies and variety show episodes? Cousin Oliver!
