The Y&R spoilers recap for Thursday, September 1, 2022, brings a surprising moment for Nikki Newman and Phyllis Summers when they spy Diane Jenkins with Talia Morgan. The good news for them is they manage to turn the tables on their nemesis. Plus, Chloe Mitchell Fisher takes on all things negative about Adam Newman, Sally Spectra looks for advice from Nick Newman, and Chelsea Lawson wallows in her misery.
Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) repaid her debt to Nick (Joshua Morrow). He’d given her a loan for The Grand Phoenix with no strings attached, but since Phyllis sold the hotel to Chancellor-Winters, she wanted to pay him back. Nick took the money, and he and Phyllis had a talk. He noted her success at the hotel, and Phyllis admitted everything he said was completely true. She was truly a phoenix rising out of the ashes, and blah blah blah. Of course, he eventually called her out for working with Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) at Marchetti. Phyllis pretended not to know what Nick meant, but he finally spelled it out — Diane (Susan Walters).

Then, Sally (Courtney Hope) showed up, wanting to talk with Nick. Phyllis didn’t waste a second getting her digs in at the woman who ended up helping Summer get the job of her dreams. Nick firmly told Phyllis they were through with their discussion even though she tried to delay things, and then he invited Sally in to talk.
Nick wondered why Sally seemed suddenly unsure of herself, and he reminded her of how she got him and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) to keep her on as Newman Media Chief Executive Officer. Nick encouraged Sally to trust herself and be the leader she said she was. He also asked some questions about her personal life, which Sally declined to answer. Nick noted that his door was always open to bounce any business ideas around, and she seemed pleased to hear it. She left his office with renewed confidence, promising to do her best for Newman Media.
Young and the Restless: Make It Stop
Before she went to see Nick, Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) tore into Sally about carrying a torch or Adam (Mark Grossman). She begged Sally not to allow Adam to steal her focus, and she reiterated how she’d dealt with it all before with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). Sally thanked Chloe for caring about her, but she didn’t make any promises.
Then, Chloe tracked down Adam at the rooftop bar, and she totally let him have it too. Chloe begged Adam to break Sally’s heart entirely and not allow her to think there was any chance at all that they’d have a future together. She didn’t hold back either, calling Adam a no-good dirty rotten lying bastard and more. For his part, Adam took it, but he looked pained at the idea that he’d have to ensure Sally believed they were done for good.
Before that, Adam stopped by Chelsea’s hotel suite to show her a cute craft Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) made at camp, which Chelsea appreciated and promptly decided to keep for herself. Then, they sat down to talk. Adam admitted he’d taken her advice to heart and called Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to accept the job as co-CEO at Jabot. Oh, and that revenge thing he’s always doing? Well, Adam decided to put a stop to that too, all due to Chelsea’s good advice.
They both appreciated that they’d been able to let their guards down a bit. However, when Adam started questioning Chelsea more about what was bothering her, she snapped. She especially didn’t appreciate him insinuating she needed to talk to a therapist. Chelsea let Adam know in no uncertain terms that despite the fact that they talked, she wasn’t ready to do a whole deep dive into her personal life — she just had a bad day. Period. Of course, after he left, Chelsea flashed back to her embarrassing kiss with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and curled up in bed alone. It seemed like she could be dealing with a bit more than a mere bad day.

Y&R Spoilers Recap: Tables Turned
Diane ran into Talia Morgan (Natalie Morales) at Society. She walked up to the Los Angeles-based reporter and started talking to her. Diane offered to give her the scoop on Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) since that’s why she told Diane she was in Genoa City.
After Diane spilled the beans about her grandson’s paternity and Ashland not being Harrison Locke’s (Kellen Enriquez) biological son, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Phyllis walked in. Diane noticed them and invited them over. Both women pretended they hadn’t heard of Talia. Then, both Phyllis and Nikki took the opportunity to run down Diane while keeping smiles on their faces.
When Diane left, Nikki and Phyllis sat down with Talia. She told them what a piece of work Diane was, especially given how she left out everything bad and painted herself in such a positive light. Talia seemed to know precisely how to get Diane to reveal her real self, much to Nikki and Phyllis’s delight.
Coming Up Next On Y&R Spoilers: Victor Questions Nick’s Judgement
Coming up tomorrow, you will see Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) questioning his son Nick’s judgment. Will it be about business, or has he noticed that Nick has taken Sally under his wing? Perhaps it’s even about Nick accidentally killing Ashland or feeling some type of empathy for his brother Adam.
Elsewhere, though, Victor’s better half, Nikki, will be celebrating with her unlikely cohort — Phyllis. These two managed to turn the tables on Diane even though she probably thinks she has the upper hand. They’re sure to feel like they’ve got the whole thing in the bag, but we suspect Diane won’t crack quite that easily. Check out the daily breakdown below to find out what else is coming up tomorrow.
