The Y&R spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 23, 2022, brings a big change for Billy Abbott that leaves both Lily Winters and Chelsea Lawson stunned. Plus, Nick Newman and Abby Newman talk to Victor Newman, Victoria Newman railroads Nikki Newman about Newman Enterprises, and Adam Newman overhears Kevin Fisher giving Chance Chancellor a hard time over his decision.
Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights
Billy (Jason Thompson) finally figured out what he wants to be when he grows up — the Chief Operating Officer of Chancellor-Winters. While Lily (Christel Khalil) wanted her right-hand man to be fully devoted, she wasn’t so sure about Billy’s surprising declaration that he planned to step back from the podcasts, though. Later, Billy gave Lily a yin and yang necklace as a gift, which she loved.

At the rooftop bar, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) talked to Adam (Mark Grossman) briefly, and then Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) showed up. The best friends caught up with each other, and Chloe admitted she was slightly jealous of Chelsea’s partnership with Billy. Chelsea noticed something wasn’t quite right with her friend, but Chloe didn’t open up.
Billy stopped by, and Chloe left. He dropped the bombshell news on Chelsea that he planned to step back from the podcast to focus on his COO duties. Not surprisingly, Chelsea was horrified by Billy’s decision, and she thought he was making a bad choice. Chelsea promised to say, “I told you so,” when Billy eventually realized he’d made the wrong choice.
Of course, Chloe noticed their discussion, and after Billy left, she warned Chelsea not to pursue Billy romantically. Odds are, though, Chelsea won’t take her bestie’s advice to heart.
Young and the Restless: The Newmans
Nick (Joshua Morrow) went to the ranch to talk to Victor (Eric Braeden). He reiterated how much harder Victor’s actions made things, but Nick also understood why his dad did what he did. Unfortunately, Nick still grappled with causing Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) death.

Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) showed up as Nick left. Victor mentioned telling Chance (Conner Floyd) how happy he was with his choice. Abby warned her father not to do that, though. Of course, Victor failed to listen, and he had Chance over anyway. The Genoa City Police Department detective wasn’t too happy with his father-in-law’s thanks, though.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) stopped by Victoria’s. She was shocked to see her daughter pushing full steam ahead for work. Nikki warned her daughter that their employees didn’t know the circumstances of Ashland’s death, but Victoria said she’d acknowledge her late ex-husband at least briefly. Despite Nikki’s misgivings, Victoria decided to give a company update from her house.
Y&R Spoilers Recap: Fall Guy
At Chancellor Park, Kevin (Greg Rikaart) asked Chance what the District Attorney said about their case. When Chance admitted he closed the case, Kevin was stunned. He worried that the truth would come out, and it would look bad since the Newmans are Chance’s family. Chance finally told Kevin that justice was served for everyone who was in the room when Ashland died, and he suggested that Kevin let it go.
Adam happened upon them, and he hid in order to eavesdrop on their conversation. After Chance left, Adam warned Kevin that he’d be the fall guy if things went south. His advice? Kevin should get out in front of the whole thing now.
