The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, December 20, 2023, brings Summer telling Phyllis to walk the walk she’s been talking about these past few months.

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Summer and Chance reminisced about the concert they attended. The Abbotts decorated the tree with Harrison in on the action as Diane reflected on how different her life was now. Ashley tried to get Devon and Abby to give Tucker yet another chance. Nate and Mamie were surprised when Billy showed up as co-CEO at Chancellor-Winters, and Chance turned down Billy’s offer to mentor him. Now, let’s dig deeper into what happened.

An Ultimatum

Alone in his room, Tucker (Trevor St. John) received a package filled with gifts for Dominic. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) arrived at Society and observed Summer (Allison Lanier) and Chance (Conner Floyd) enjoying themselves. Summer shared their recent fun experiences and autograph collection from a Say Jump concert. Phyllis, curious about their relationship, joined them and learned about Chance’s unsuccessful attempt to get Sharon to dance.

When Chance left for a meeting, Phyllis sensed that Summer was missing Harrison and the usual Christmas festivities. Her daughter acknowledged her feelings for Chance but resolved not to act on them.

Phyllis revealed Tucker’s job offer, describing it as a significant opportunity with a substantial salary increase. Summer suspected her mother’s interest in the job and urged her to consider the potential negative consequences. She emphasized trust as a crucial factor, stating that if Phyllis took the job, she couldn’t trust her again.

Phyllis apologized to Summer and agreed with her decision. Tucker walked in, infuriating Summer, but Phyllis insisted it was a coincidence. Summer told off Tucker, and left. He joined Phyllis, and she affirmed that she would never work with him, and Tucker seemed to take it all in stride. In fact, he smiled.

Merry Christmas

Harrison (Kellen Enriquez) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) arrived home to a warm reception, with hugs exchanged all around. In a festive gesture, Harrison, with Kyle’s assistance, hung mistletoe over Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane’s (Susan Walters) heads, prompting them to share a kiss. Traci (Beth Maitland) reflected on the growing strength of love within their family over the years.

As the Abbotts gathered around the Christmas tree, Traci, Harrison, and Jack took a moment to admire its festive beauty. However, Diane expressed sympathy over Kyle’s first Christmas without Summer. Despite this, Kyle brushed off the sentiment, and they joined others in decorating the tree. The family decided that Harrison needed a personalized ornament with a shorter form of his name, choosing “Harry.”

Amid the holiday preparations, Kyle received a text from Tucker, inquiring about progress. Intrigued, Kyle took Jack outside for a private conversation.

Meanwhile, Ashley (Eileen Davidson), Abby (Melissa Ordway), and Devon (Bryton James) dined at the Athletic Club, discussing their Christmas plans. Ashley, expressing her love for Christmas, playfully suggested getting a pony for Dominic. As they talked, Devon and Abby extended an invitation to Ashley for Christmas at the Chancellor estate. Concerned about Tucker, Abby inquired about their plans with him, and Devon reassured her that Tucker wouldn’t be an issue.

Ashley defended Tucker as a good grandfather, but Abby pointed out his constant lies. Ashley acknowledged Tucker’s past mistakes and expressed disappointment in his choices. She admitted that, despite her feelings, she wouldn’t reunite with him, as Tucker had burned bridges in Paris.

After taking a work phone call away from the table, Devon encountered his father in the lobby, where Tucker expressed a desire to spend Christmas Eve together. However, Devon declined, emphasizing the need to avoid drama and agendas. (Read more about Tucker’s big plan here.)

Back at the mansion, Ashley defended Tucker, leading Jack and Kyle to discuss giving Tucker false information. Jack praised Kyle for showing courage and expressed regret over letting him go initially. They all joined in festive activities and finished trimming the Christmas tree.

Business Dealings

At Chancellor Winters, Nate (Sean Dominic) and Mamie (Veronica Redd) discussed their concerns about Tucker’s involvement. Mamie expressed her singular agenda of keeping Jill out of their business.

Billy (Jason Thompson) unexpectedly entered, announcing his return as co-CEO with Devon, temporarily filling in for Lily. (Find out more about Billy’s decision here.) Despite initial confusion, Mamie welcomed Billy and hoped he would settle in quickly. The conversation shifted to Mamie’s former partnership with Tucker, and Billy expressed concerns about personal issues affecting their work.

Later, Chance met with Billy at Crimson Lights, where Billy offered to mentor him and predicted a rapid rise with Jill’s support. However, Chance declined special treatment, citing Billy’s own questionable corporate past.
