The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, February 20 celebrates actress Melody Thomas Scott’s 40 years on the show by having Nikki write a letter to her grandchildren recapping her life. (Although she does skim over those two years when she was…someone else.)
In the Beginning
Once upon a time, Nikki was a young woman growing up with a single mom and a beloved older sister, Casey.
Nikki’s mom died in a car accident and her ne’er-do-well dad returned to Genoa City (looking a lot like a guy that Nikki’s good friend, Kay, would marry years later). Casey finally confessed to Nikki that their dad had sexually abused her as a child, and when he tried to do the same to Nikki, she killed him.
Past Sins
Nikki then spent some time in a commune with her first love, Paul (Doug Davidson). She skipped over the sexually transmitted disease he gave her, and the son they had, which Nikki neglected to mention until many decades later.
And now here comes the stripping! Yup, Grandma took her clothes off for many men who threw money at her. One of them was Grandpa Victor (Eric Braeden). So, yay, epic love story!
Reruns
Nikki also married Jack (Peter Bergman), but she and Victor always ended up finding their way back to each other. Even after she lied about him not being Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) father. Even after he cheated. And she cheated. And they yelled and swore they would never get back together again. They got back together again.
Troubled Days
She drank, she cheated, she suffered, she wept. Oh, how she wept. Nikki wept after she lost her son with Jack. She wept when Cassie (Camryn Grimes) died. She wept when Kay (Jeanne Cooper) died.
And now Nikki’s affairs are in order. It’s time to find out her future!
