The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, March 17, sees Sharon and Phyllis struggling to move on knowing their captor is still out there running free.
What Happened On Y&R?
After a terrifying ordeal, Sharon (Sharon Case) was relieved to finally be free. She expressed her gratitude to Nick (Joshua Morrow) for rescuing her, vowing never to take anything for granted again. Nick was just happy to have her back safely. But Sharon wasn’t ready to just move on – she was determined to find out who orchestrated the kidnapping. She even admitted to Nick that she and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) briefly suspected their own children.

Nick can’t help but wonder if the captor got what they wanted out of this bizarre situation. Sharon, on the other hand, sees an unexpected silver lining. Her relationship with Phyllis has changed for the better. Sharon can’t shake the feeling that their captor has a deep understanding of psychology, likening the whole ordeal to an extreme version of aversion therapy. Nick doesn’t care about the why, he’s just grateful they escaped with their lives.
Guilt…And Support
Elsewhere, Sally (Courtney Hope) told Billy (Jason Thompson) this was one of the strangest kidnappings she had ever heard of. She worried about how quickly Billy dove in to help, considering it could have been a trap. Billy regretted not giving Phyllis the benefit of the doubt, but Sally reassured him it wasn’t his fault. He was just grateful they made it in time. Still, Billy wouldn’t rest until the captor was caught.
Meanwhile, Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and Summer (Allison Lanier) rushed to embrace their mother, overjoyed to see her safe. Phyllis, who was savoring every moment of her freedom, was ecstatic about the simple things. Things like choosing her own meal. But the mystery surrounding the kidnapping lingered. Daniel wondered what the captor was trying to accomplish, and Summer feared that her mother might still be in danger. Phyllis, however, insisted that she was well protected and refused to let fear control her.
Later, Phyllis surprised Billy with a visit, declaring that she wasn’t okay. She needed her life back, and the key to that was Abbott Communications. Billy worried she was pushing herself too hard, but Phyllis insisted that work was the one thing keeping her grounded. Billy, who had assumed she abandoned him, apologized for excluding her from the press release. Phyllis forgave him, and the two reaffirmed their partnership.
Suspicious Activity
All the while, Chance (Conner Floyd) and the GCPD worked tirelessly to track down the culprit. A crucial clue, a gas line valve, caught Chance’s attention. It was a shocking find and one that Chance was sure would eventually lead them to the culprit.
Meanwhile, Alan (Christopher Cousins) and Traci (Beth Maitland) had an awkward exchange when she accidentally stumbled upon mysterious messages on his phone. Though Alan insisted he wasn’t hiding anything, his reaction raised eyebrows. Traci’s curiosity grew, especially when Alan’s phone kept receiving cryptic alerts about a security breach.
