The Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, May 29 saw Claire inspire Kyle, Ashley prepare to leave again, and Phyllis scheme her way into a power move that could change Chancellor forever!
What Happened On Y&R Today?
In Chancellor Park, Claire (Hayley Erin), Kyle (Michael Mealor), and young Harrison (Redding Munsell) put their heads together to come up with the perfect birthday gift for Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). Harrison tossed out every idea under the Genoa City sun – from a cotton candy machine to a horse! But Claire gently nudged him toward something more personal, and that’s when inspiration struck: a family book. Harrison loved the idea, and Claire praised his thoughtfulness.
But this wasn’t just about Nikki’s present. Claire subtly hinted that this party was a pivotal moment for Kyle to prove himself to Victor (Eric Braeden). She’s banking on Victor seeing that people can change. Kyle, meanwhile, knows he’s got to pull off something dazzling if he wants to earn Victor’s respect. No pressure, right?

Ashley Says Goodbye…For Now
At the Abbott mansion, Ashley (Eileen Davidson)arrived to a warm welcome from Jack (Peter Bergman) and a stunning home makeover courtesy of Diane (Susan Walters). Ashley, surprisingly, admitted that Diane did a fabulous job – yes, really! Diane overheard the compliment and was clearly moved, especially when Ashley reminded her that praise doesn’t come easy.
Still, business was business. Ashley asked for time alone with Jack and revealed that her emotional scars from Paris were still healing. She confessed she’s been questioning everything, even her progress. She plans to return to Paris and focus on therapy, but made it clear she’s not going back to the clinic. Her confidence in the staff shattered when they failed to distinguish Martin from Alan.

Jack was supportive and promised to look after Traci while Ashley took time to heal. The two siblings shared a touching moment as Ashley assured him they’d both be okay. Later, she tearfully spoke to their late father, John Abbott, asking for strength to be as brave as everyone believes she is.
Phyllis Plots a Power Move
At Crimson Lights, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) was on a mission. She announced to Daniel (Michael Graziadei) that she was heading to D.C. with Amanda (Mishael Morgan) for a potentially game-changing meeting with none other than Dumas. Her bold plan? To run Chancellor herself, after prying it from Nikki and Victor’s grip.
Daniel wasn’t exactly sold on the idea. He thought she was unhinged and was more concerned about Summer, given her Newman ties. The mother-son debate turned tense, with Phyllis pushing hard to rope him into her plan.
In the end, Daniel stood his ground. He needed time to grieve his beloved wife and regroup. Phyllis finally listened, realizing he wasn’t rejecting her, just trying to heal. She promised to go full throttle with Dumas anyway. According to her, the world better watch out – because Phyllis Summers is coming in hot!
