On New Year’s Eve, Mariah (Camryn Grimes) told Sharon (Sharon Case) and Faith (Reylynn Caster) that she planned to celebrate with Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) at Society, but Faith opted to stay home. Mariah was surprised when Sharon said she’d join them at Society, eager to leave the year behind. When Nick (Joshua Morrow) learned of their plans, he insisted on going with them because he woried for their safety. Before heading out, he shared the news that the police had reopened their investigation.
At the ranch, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor (Eric Braeden) reflected on their blessings, including Claire’s (Hayley Erin) addition to the family and Connor’s (Judah Mackey) recovery. Claire stopped by, and they toasted to the Newmans’ future. Later, Nick and Faith showed up and updated Victor and Nikki on Sharon’s case developments.
Meanwhile, at the Abbott mansion, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) asked Traci (Beth Maitland), whose date was snowbound, to join them for the evening. Christine (Lauralee Bell) joined Michael (Christian Le Blanc) and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) at a jazz lounge, sad about her own solo plans. Tensions flared when Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) arrived, expressing her displeasure about Michael’s role in Sharon’s case. Despite her children’s efforts to calm her, Phyllis continued to clash with others. Danny (Michael Damian) eventually appeared, reuniting with Christine and Daniel (Michael Graziadei), while Phyllis went upstairs.
At Society, Abby (Melissa Ordway) praised Tessa, and they discussed their hopes for a peaceful new year. Devon (Bryton James) and Abby celebrated their first New Year’s as a married couple. Ian (Ray Wise) appeared and manipulated Tessa, drugging her water. As she began feeling unwell, Abby suggested she rest. Tessa stumbled outside and collapsed into Ian’s arms, where he subdued her. Mariah arrived in time to witness this and was horrified to see Ian.
Simultaneously, Jordan ambushed Sharon and chloroformed her outside Society.

Mariah rescued Tessa from Ian, demanding answers about what happened. Tessa, coughing and disoriented, admitted she felt like she was dying but refused to call 911. Ian lied about his involvement, claiming Tessa collapsed into his arms. When Nick and Faith arrived, Faith recognized Ian and called him out, prompting Nick to demand his arrest. Ian claimed he had reformed and was released early from prison. Ian claimed innocence, offering a card to prove he was a chaplain, but Nick warned him to stay away.
Inside Society, Tessa confided in Mariah about her regret about sharing personal details with Ian. Mariah reassured her but told Tessa about Ian’s past actions. Faith joined them, pushing Tessa to see a doctor, but Tessa wouldn’t. Meanwhile, Nick listed Ian’s past crimes and demanded his arrest when an officer arrived. Ian maintained his innocence, insisting his release was legitimate.
At the jazz lounge, Danny and Christine enjoyed time together. Then, Daniel told Danny about his struggles and grief over Heather’s death. Diane and Jack toasted to their future, while Lauren and Michael reflected on Phyllis’s struggles and the need for reconciliation.
As the festivities wound down at Society, Faith realized Sharon was missing. At the no-tell motel, Jordan watched Sharon, bound and gagged, asleep on a bed.

Kyle welcomed 2024 alone at the Abbott mansion until Claire showed up with party favors. They shared a private countdown and kissed before heading to his room. Afterward, Claire admitted she felt nervous but happy about their growing relationship. Kyle confessed his love for holiday movies, which amused Claire.
Meanwhile, at the jazz lounge, Daniel thanked Summer (Allison Lanier) for her support as they reflected on his talk with Danny about his grief over Heather. They wondered where Phyllis was, but she showed up, claiming she was ready to let go of her past. Phyllis admitted that she was wrong about Sharon. She even described an older woman with glasses as the driver from the crash. Despite vowing to change, Daniel and Summer doubted she would, especially because Phyllis maintained her anger toward Sharon.
Outside Society, Nick confronted Ian, who defended his release. Nick listed Ian’s crimes and warned him to stay away from his family. When the officer confirmed Ian’s legitimacy, Nick threatened him. Inside, Mariah, Tessa, and Faith discussed Ian’s presence, and Mariah vowed to protect her family. Tessa questioned why Ian saved her life, and they speculated he tampered with Sharon’s medication.
Elsewhere, Ian and Jordan kept a bound Sharon in a motel, plotting to frame Phyllis for her murder. While Jordan expressed doubts about Ian’s loyalty, he reassured her of their partnership, revealing plans to manipulate Mariah. Back at Sharon’s house, Nick and Faith found her missing and told Victor. Victor vowed to get to the bottom of Ian’s return.
