The Young and the Restless recap for Tuesday, April 8, sees Alan realize that Traci suspects he’s not who she thinks he is as Ashley vows to kill Martin (if he’s the one who survived). Sharon and Phyllis work to solve their kidnapping, and Sharon and Nick postpone their trip. Summer and Chance try to discuss their future.

What Happened On Y&R Today?

At Society, Summer (Allison Lanier) opened up to Chance (Conner Floyd) about her jealousy toward Claire (Hayley Erin). She admitted she wanted to be mature, but seeing Claire with Harrison (Redding Munsell) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) hurt deeply. Chance appreciated her honesty and wondered where they go from there. Summer said she didn’t know. She assumed he must feel the same about Abby (Melissa Ordway), but Chance said that he wasn’t jealous of Devon (Bryton James) and didn’t feel threatened.

When Summer said she was tired, Chance told her not to avoid hard truths. She wanted to take time apart, but he wanted clarity. Although he never pressured her, Chance said he couldn’t keep living in uncertainty. After a drink, Summer said she didn’t have any answers that made sense. She needed to say goodnight to Harrison.

When Summer told Chance they could talk when both were ready, he told her that he was ready. Their relationship had been more off than on because she was still stuck on Kyle. Before their conversation could continue, Chance got a call about the case, and Summer quietly left.

Suspicions

At Sharon’s (Sharon Case), Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) wondered whether it was wise for Sharon and Nick (Joshua Morrow) to travel to London. With London near Paris, Phyllis worried it could be dangerous. Sharon suggested they wait until everything was resolved and then have a proper family getaway.

Phyllis wanted to find the culprit. They discussed how bizarre and cruel the entire ordeal had been. Nick looked up Alan (Christopher Cousins) and got information about Martin (Christopher Cousins). Chance showed up and reported that the clinic in France hadn’t produced leads, but Alan had leased a house near where they were held. Phyllis thought that was proof of guilt, but Sharon wondered if it was a setup. Chance told them that Traci (Beth Maitland) was afraid that Martin might actually be alive.

A Change Of Heart

Elsewhere, Traci prayed she was wrong about Alan. Jack (Peter Bergman) called her, and she said Alan wouldn’t call that night. At the jazz lounge, Jack met Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and questioned if she’d seen Alan in Paris.

Ashley was stunned when Jack suggested that Martin may have survived. Ashley insisted that couldn’t be true. Jack revealed Sharon and Phyllis were experimented on in a clinic, and Alan’s phone showed alerts related to it. Ashley vowed to kill Martin if he hurt Traci.

In her suite, Traci was surprised when Alan returned. He said he was fine with moving the wedding to the family home and was excited to plan their future. He asked if she’d changed her mind. Traci insisted she still wanted to marry him but suggested they take things slower. Traci reassured Alan when he worried she’d changed her mind. He suspected Jack had interfered. She denied it said he could tell she was holding something back.

Traci discreetly called Jack as they argued. Alan claimed he could read her, and something had changed.

The episode closed with a dedication the broadcast to Tom McDermott, who was a longtime stage manager who passed away in March.
