The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, April 30 sees Cole’s health worsen, Chelsea contemplates a major career pivot, and Billy tries to turn business into pleasure.
What Happened on The Young and the Restless?
At the tack house, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) hovered with concern as Cole (J. Eddie Peck) sat on the couch, clearly unwell. He brushed it off with a weak smile and claimed he just missed her. Despite the tenderness in his words, his constant coughing said more than he did. When talk turned to Claire (Hayley Erin) and her big decision to live with Kyle (Michael Mealor), Cole barely reacted, too busy battling his symptoms.
Victoria wasn’t buying his “I’m fine” act, especially when she noticed his fever. He suggested heading to the club to keep his germs away from her, but she wasn’t having it. She made him tea and insisted he stay and rest under her watchful eye. While he tried to reassure her that he’d bounce back stronger, the truth was written all over his face — he was going downhill fast.
Meanwhile, Claire met Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) for lunch at Society, where their casual chat quickly turned personal. Claire revealed she and Kyle were searching for a place of their own. Nikki was thrilled for her but visibly worried about how Victor (Eric Braeden) would react. Claire noticed and pushed for honesty. Nikki stuck to her advice: follow your heart, but maybe let Grandma soften Victor up first. Claire was determined to do it on her own — classic Newman spirit.
Claire returned to the tack house and found Cole dozing on the couch. Victoria explained his worsening condition, and when he stirred and heard talk of Nikki helping with Victor, he coughed out a sardonic, “Good luck with that.” Claire and Victoria exchanged worried looks as Cole finally admitted it was time to see a doctor. This was no simple cold.

Changes
Across town at Crimson Lights, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) ran into Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and asked for a private chat. But first, she joined Adam (Mark Grossman) and Connor (Judah Mackey) for a light moment. She was vague with Adam about her plans but mentioned she wanted to run something by Lauren. When the ladies sat down, Chelsea laid it all out — Adam offered her the COO job, the one Lauren once held.
The idea of leaving Marchetti was daunting, but the offer was exciting. It would be something bigger, more impactful, and possibly life-changing. Chelsea admitted she was considering recommending Sally (Courtney Hope) as her replacement — but only if Sally was ready to step up. Lauren encouraged her to talk to Sally first, not Summer (Allison Lanier), and reminded her that knowing what you want is the first step to knowing if you can handle the fallout. Regardless of Chelsea’s decision, Lauren promised her support.
Personal And Professional
At the GCAC, Billy (Jason Thompson) and Sally sipped drinks at the bar, discussing his decision to fire Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). He admitted holding on too long, hoping she’d be the right fit, but it was time to move on. Sally was shocked, but she could see it had taken a toll on him. Billy said he needed someone at his side who could be both creative and trustworthy.
He circled back to a previous offer, asking if she’d seriously considered joining him at Abbott Communications. Sally confessed that Audra (Zuleyka Silver) encouraged her to consider it — the power, the opportunity, the impact. Billy leaned in, suggesting they could keep things hot both in the bedroom and the boardroom. Sally didn’t fall for the charm right away and asked for specifics.
Billy praised her creativity and vision, but he stayed vague. Sally made it clear: she wouldn’t leave Marchetti hanging and needed to talk to people before making any leap. She was intrigued, but firmly on the fence. Hearing Billy say he wanted to build something meaningful, do the right thing, and change lives mattered. That hit home for her.
Before she left, Billy planted a kiss on her,. But Sally wasn’t quite ready to give him her answer.
