Adam Newman’s resurrection on The Young and the Restless is likely inevitable. The character is tied to a core family, and he’s also an antagonist who drives story — causing good people to take drastic actions!
Soap Hub asked Y&R viewers under what terms they’d be willing to accept Adam coming back to Genoa City. Read on for the results.
Un-Break My Hartley
Justin Hartley was the last actor to play the part of Adam. (Previously, Michael Muhney and Chris Engen portrayed the role.) While Hartley is happily ensconced on the primetime hit This Is Us on NBC, a small amount of you (17%) feel that you’ll only accept Adam returning if he’s played by Hartley full time.
A slightly larger group (20%) also feel that it has to be Hartley but understand that he simply doesn’t have time in his schedule to return to soaps.
Adam IV
A larger number of you, 35%, acknowledge that since Hartley is so busy, Y&R should recast the role.
This would give the show and a new Adam the opportunity to return the character to his more sinister roots. Hartley’s Adam was repentant for his past actions, and the Emmy-nominated star brought more of a positive presence to Victor’s second son.
Rest In Peace
While bringing Adam back from the dead, it’s unclear how the show would explain it since he appeared to blow up in a cabin. Nearly 27% of you feel that Adam isn’t needed on the canvas at this time.
Perhaps it’d be better to wait until his son Christian is a young adult before he (Christian) learns that Adam and not Nick is his dad. Since it’ll be a few years before the show ages Christian to a teen, it might be better to keep Adam off the canvas until then.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
