Put a Ring On It: Should Billy and Phyllis Marry On The Young and the Restless?

Billy and Phyllis have already ticked off all the major (soap) couple milestones on The Young and the Restless.

They’ve cheated on a family member, they’ve had sex in an elevator, they’ve had another family member come between them, and now Billy (Jason Thompson) has invited Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) to enable his gambling addiction as a sign of his deep love for her.

Why Ruin a Good Thing?
For 57% of you, Billy and Phyllis are doing fine just the way they are – especially now that Summer’s (Hunter King) scheming is out in the open. Why rock the boat with vows and legal documents?

Neither one has proven any good at marriage in the past, so what would make this union different? Phyllis and Billy both get off on sneaking around and feeling like they’re baaaad.

Marriage would suck all the air out of the tentative balloon that is their relationship. Besides, does Phyllis really want to be responsible for Billy’s gambling debts if they’re legally tethered?

Not to mention the criminal charges he’s bound to face once the truth about his stealing money from Jabot comes out.

On the other hand, 42% of fans don’t have enough faith in this couple to imagine them staying together for the long haul without some kind of legal obligation.

You suspect Billy still has feelings for Victoria (Amelia Heinle), and she’s going to become more and more needy as she spirals out of control. And Phyllis still has feelings for Jack (Peter Bergman), which are bound to come out now that they’re all living under the same roof.

Better to lock this thing in and get married. Plus, wives aren’t obliged to testify against their husbands… and vice-versa.
