On The Young and the Restless, Mariah agreed to carry Abby and Chance’s baby for them. But then Chance mysteriously left town, with no Estimated Return Date.

Full Speed Ahead

A majority 40% of the audience thinks Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) should stay the course. After all, babies don’t just pop out as soon as you close your eyes and wish for one. In-vitro fertilization alone can take multiple cycles to work, and then you’ve got the nine months after that.

The sperm won’t even be Chance’s (Donny Boaz) so whatever small contribution he might have made to the process is no longer necessary. They can go ahead and get started, and introduce Chance to his child if/when he returns. And if he doesn’t, well, then they wouldn’t have wasted their time waiting…

Close Call

Then again, it’s only slightly smaller 39% of you who think the exact opposite: They should wait. Abby didn’t just want to have a baby. She could have done that as a single mother. Abby wanted to go through the experience of having a baby with the man she loves. Without Chance there, she’ll miss out on a key part of the process. Mariah’s uterus will still be there when Chance comes back.

Tough Times

Only 21% are cautiously optimistic. They can go ahead but prepare for complications. Mariah grew up in a crazy family situation. It was one thing when she volunteered to carry a baby for a couple, convinced that the child would have a safe, rich, and loving upbringing. But if she’s expected to hand the baby she carried over to single mom Abby, well then, wouldn’t it be better off with Mariah and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks)?
