Eric Braeden was thrilled to break the news on Friday night that Doug Davidson is returning to The Young and the Restless. Over the months, he made no secret about how he felt in regards to his longtime co-star being dropped — and how he felt about the direction of the soap as a whole.
With a new head writer and executive producer at the helm, Braden has also made no secret about the hope he has for the soap he’s called home for nearly four decades and is expressing his joy and gratitude on Twitter.
On Friday evening after bringing cheers to the fandom with the Davidson news, he then went on to thank to the people he credits for the comeback.
“I want to thank @stevekentsony from SONY, Josh Griffith, and and Tony Morina, for turning the ship around!!! Steve made an executive decision a few months ago and we want to thank him for it!” Braeden tweeted.
On Saturday, he was at it again and his positivity felt infectious.
“I want to thank all of you for being so supportive of our show and DOUGIE DAVIDSON! Ratings have gone up as well! Without you, our friends and fans, none of the above would have happened! We are happy to have Tony Morina as EP & JOSH GRIFFITH AS HW! different vibe on set now.”
A few weeks back during a Facebook Live Q&A session, Braeden revealed that Mal Young, who left his post as EP at the end of last year, had wanted to “diminish” the character of Victor Newman, something Braeden just wasn’t having.
Now, it seems Genoa City will start looking more familiar with more Victor — and with Paul Williams — on the scene.
