On the June 11 episode of The Young and the Restless, Victor offered to give Phyllis the barely functioning Arabesque. She can use the company as a way to beg her daughter, Summer, to forgive Phyllis for doing the same thing that Summer’s beloved Grandpa Victor was planning to do. The fact that Summer and Daniel were able to forgive Phyllis for faking her own death, but can’t seem to get over her business dealings, tells us that Phyllis’ kids are hypocrites. And kind of dumb.
Key Takeaways
- Daniel and Summer got past Phyllis, pretending to be dead
- Daniel and Summer won’t forgive her for getting the best of Victor
- Victor means more to them than Phyllis does
Easy Does It
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) put her children through mourning her, attending her funeral, and preparing for life without their mom. Then she came back and said, “Psych! Oh, and I also killed a guy. But it wasn’t my fault. Love me again!”
Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and Summer made frowny faces at her. For a hot minute. And then said, “Oh, our mom is such a card. What won’t she do for a laugh? We love you, Mommy!”
Nothing To It
A few years later, Phyllis outsmarted Victor (Eric Braeden) and stole the company he was planning to steal for himself. And then she stole his company using the same all-powerful AI program Victor had been planning on using.
“That is beyond the pale,” Phyllis’ children raged. “How could you do such a horrible thing? This is the most horrible thing you have ever done. We will never forgive you. Never!”
Victim Blaming
So what can we deduce from this? We can deduce that Daniel and Summer think no one is more important than Victor. Not even themselves. If their mom hurts them, well, they probably deserved it.
But Victor? Victor can do no wrong. And if Victor isn’t happy, no one is allowed to be happy until he is. The fact that Phyllis didn’t realize that is the worst crime of all!
