Daniel on The Young and the Restless isn’t convinced that Phyllis has changed. He wants to avoid his mother after what she did to the Newman family. However, Sharon and Christine want him to show her some grace. Daniel might realize that he can’t keep avoiding his mother forever.

Key Takeaways

Daniel Doesn’t Believe His Mother Has Changed

Last week, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) sat alone at Society, reflecting on the lowest moment of her life. She was so happy to see that Daniel (Michael Graziadei) agreed to meet with her. But Daniel acted standoffish. He wanted to know what this meeting was about so he could decide whether to stay.

Phyllis confessed to her son that she returned Newman Enterprises to Victor (Eric Braeden). But this news wasn’t enough to satisfy Daniel. Although he was relieved that she gave up the company, he doesn’t believe that she’s changed.

Phyllis hoped they would go back to the way things were. Daniel asked Phyllis if she had only given up the company because it was the right thing to. do. Daniel wanted his mom to learn from her mistakes and to do it for the right reasons.

Phyllis tearfully proclaimed that she did it for Daniel and Summer (Allison Lanier). She just wanted her kids to be proud of her. Then, she picked up her things and left Daniel alone.

Sharon and Christine Extend Phyllis Some Grace

In a surprise twist, Sharon (Sharon Case) was there for Phyllis at the lowest moment of her life. She talked her out of a panic attack. When Daniel met with Sharon and Noah (Lucas Adams) in last week’s episode, Sharon admitted that they had overheard some of his conversation with Phyllis.

Sharon didn’t disagree with how Daniel felt. She shared that she noticed that Phyllis had a need for control over her life after their kidnapping. She felt that Phyllis could use a little grace, and she’s not the only one who felt that way.

At this week’s opening of The Shadow Room, Christine (Lauralee Bell) encouraged Daniel to extend Phyllis a little grace. She believed this situation was a learning experience for Phyllis. Daniel isn’t sure if he could offer Phyllis forgiveness.

He convinced himself that his mom would continue her bad behavior. Phyllis needed to be humbled and start making better choices. Then, maybe he would extend that grace. But Daniel might be the one who’s forced to draw the line between forgiveness and accountability.
