On the May 14 episode of The Young and the Restless, Jack pretended to be warming up to Patty, while Patty insisted that when they slept together on Victor’s Kidnapping on the High Seas Yacht, they recaptured their old passion from the days of their marriage. We know Jack was lying through his teeth. But does Patty realize that she was doing the same? Or did she actually believe what she was saying? In that case, here is a little primer for Patty on her days of wedded bliss with Jack — and for newer viewers, too.

Key Takeaways

  • Jack never loved Patty.
  • Patty was disappointed by Jack.
  • There was never any passion between them.

MORE: Why Patty may team up with this dangerous person.

Jack Married Patty to Impress John, Not Because He Loved Her

Patty (then-Lilibet Stern) was a barely out of high school virgin when she became infatuated with older man Jack (then-Terry Lester). Jack had no time or interest in her whatsoever. Until his father, John (Jerry Douglas), basically told his playboy son that if he expected to be handed the family company to run, he needed to straighten out, fly right, and stop screwing anything that crossed his path.

Jack gave it some thought and figured marrying that innocent little girl who keeps following him around should prove to his daddy that Jack was a big boy now. So he did. (But not before Ashley [Eileen Davidson] found her brother in bed on his wedding day with one Diane Jenkins [then-Alex Donnelly], threw him in the shower, sobered him up, and literally dragged him to the church on time.)

Patty Remembered a Romance That Never Actually Existed

Patty expected her wedding night to be one of passion and unparalleled joy. She ended up pretty disappointed. “Eh,” Jack shrugged. “You’ll get used to it.”

Overall, their sex life was never anything to boast about. Patty assumed she was bad in bed and blamed herself for Jack’s cheating. She came to her husband’s office with a gun and said she would shoot herself. Jack told her to shoot him instead. So she did.

Patty Turned Years of Rejection Into a Fantasy About Passion

That was the closest their doomed marriage ever came to passion. So when Patty (now Stacy Haiduk) waxes poetic about the good old days to Jack (now Peter Bergman) these days, we have to wonder… is this more proof of just how crazy she is?
