On The Young and the Restless (YR), the truth about Christian’s paternity has been bubbling under the surface for years now.
Sage (Kelly Sullivan) knew that Adam (Justin Hartley) was the father, but led Nick to believe that he was. Then Christian was presumed dead – thanks to a baby switch – and, by the time Nick learned that Sharon’s (Sharon Case) son, Sully, was really Christian, Sage was dead. And the secret supposedly buried.
Not So Fast
Victor (Eric Braeden) knew. But he was perfectly happy letting Nick raise his namesake. It meant Victor had better access to the boy. And Christian was his grandson either way, so what difference did it make?
Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) knew. She was fine with keeping mum as long as she and Nick (Joshua Morrow) were together and raising Connor and Christian as brothers. But when Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) figured out that Chelsea had embezzled from Lauren (Tracey Bregman), Christian’s paternity was all Chelsea had to keep Phyllis in check.
But then Sharon found out. And she felt obliged to let Nick know. (If she can’t have Christian, why should Nick?) Nick ran a paternity test. He found out the truth. He cried. He decided Victor must never know (ha, jokes on him!) He asked Phyllis to keep Billy (Jason Thompson) quiet about it. He moved in with Sharon.
And that… was that.
Is That All There Is?
Really? That’s what we’ve all been waiting for? This is the whole pay-off?
Of course, Nick still loves Christian and wants to be his dad. Of course, he wants to keep him away from Victor. Of course, Sharon is totally behind him 100% of the way.
That’s… nice.
Nice doesn’t make soap operas. Soaps are about drama, passion, angst, despair and heartache. You won’t find them here….
