Y&R’s Paxton Mishkind Recalls Amelia Heinle Telling Him ‘It Happens to Everyone’

Paxton Mishkind has been playing Johnny Abbott on The Young and the Restless since September 2022. He recently explained why he feels that he hit the jackpot when it came to his TV parents.

“I can’t express how lucky I am to get to work with both Amelia [Heinle, Victoria] and Jason [Thompson, Billy],” Mishkind said in an interview with Star Kidz Site. The young actor found out just how cool the two actors who play his mom and dad are after he experienced something Heinle told him, everyone, sooner or later likely experiences.

“I actually wound up testing positive for covid for the taping of my second ever episode,” Mishkind recalls, “and I was sitting in my dressing room feeling so incredibly bummed and Amelia and Jason popped their [masked] heads in together, and assured me it had happened to everyone on the show and not worry, that it would be ok and they were excited to have me on the show.

“That just shows how kind and supportive they are,” Miskind continues. “Amelia is incredibly funny and always makes me laugh during blocking and Jason is amazing at making sure we have the scene down and always runs lines with me to make sure we connect authentically. They are just the best.”

Johnny’s biological mom, Chelsea, is played by Melissa Claire Egan. Mishkind is thrilled to do scenes with her, too. “My favorite episode was probably the one when Johnny confronts Chelsea…in the park because it was a good challenge to show all that emotion,” the actor says. “And Missy is INCREDIBLE to work with.”

Also tops on his list is a scene in which Johnny, Connor (Judah Mackey) and Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant) are all at a table eating because, Miskind says, “Who doesn’t love getting to eat burgers, tots, and onion rings on set!”
