Y&R’s Brytni Sarpy Teases a New Career Opportunity for Elena

 Comments

The Young and the Restless star Brytni Sarpy recently shot a role in a new film titled Four for Fun, produced by fellow daytime stars Jacob Young (ex-Rick Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Jason Cook (ex-Shawn-Douglas Brady, Days of our Lives). But that’s not the only collaboration between Young and Sarpy. He invited the actress to appear on his mental health-themed podcast Real Conversations with Jacob Young.

Brytni Sarpy Teases Elena’s New Opportunity

The two talked about a variety of topics, including what’s coming up next for Brytni Sarpy‘s character Elena Dawson on Y&R. “I will say this,” teased Sarpy. “There’s a possibility for…career advancement [with] my character coming up. Elena might have an opportunity she could explore with career advancement. That’s as specific as I can be.”

What might a new opportunity mean for Elena? She’s a general surgery resident at Genoa City Memorial Hospital and also a doctor at the New Hope clinic. Becoming chief of staff at Genoa City Memorial Hospital comes to mind in terms of career advancement for Elena but is that probable?

Taking on additional duties at the hospital might mean showing her in this new role. Today’s economic realities don’t often allow for busy hospital scenes with atmosphere players portraying patients, visitors, and nurses.

Perhaps Elena is going to become a private physician for an existing character — but who could that be? Currently, Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) might need a regular doctor given that he’s shared with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) he is facing a fatal illness. Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) took part in a kidney transplant. Might either of them require Elena’s aid?

Y&R’s Elena Would Make A Great Therapist

While Elena’s not a psychiatrist, she would probably make a great one. On Young’s podcast Real Conversations, she talked about keeping an emotional perspective as life throws people curveballs. “Understanding that everything in life is constantly changing and that includes our feelings and emotions,” Sarpy says as to how she manages stress.

“That was a big thing for me,” she continues. “Knowing I’m not going to be stuck in one feeling, emotion, or space all the time. It makes you feel like you’re not in a perpetual downward spiral. There are going to be highs and lows. [Realizing that] made it easier for me to fine-tune some tools that have allowed me to handle things.”

What’s going to happen next in Elena’s work life? Stay tuned to find out! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on Y&R spoilers.
