The Young and the Restless star Michelle Stafford spoke out about the importance of her friendships with other women — specifically several of her daytime co-stars. The topic came up during the week that included lots of celebrations for International Women’s Day.
Michelle Stafford Celebrates Female Friendships
Stafford took to her Instagram account and shared a Throwback Thursday photo of herself (though we can also call it a Flashback Friday) alongside Sharon Case (Sharon Rosales), Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin), and a very pregnant Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman Locke).
“Your friendships with women are important,” the actress captioned the photo. “You need your girls to laugh with. You need your girls to have your back when your man acts like a douche bag. You need your girls to lie to you and tell you that you look great when you know you don’t. You need your girls to say ‘hey slow down on that Botox, you’re starting to look like an alien.’ You need your girls to call you out on your own bullshit. You need your girls to tell you to relax cuz it’s all gonna be ok. You just need your girls.
“If you have good girl friends make sure you support and cultivate those relationships,” Michelle Stafford advised her fans and friends. “It can be a rare thing. These relationships are important. Here with these beauties at my baby shower they threw for me for Natalia?”

Y&R Women Friendships
At different times on Y&R, the storylines celebrate women friendships — like when Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) leaned so heavily on Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper). Even Jill Foster Abbott Atkinson (Jess Walton) and Kay eventually became great friends after decades of bitter rivalry. Again, when Sharon had breast cancer a couple of years ago, Michelle Stafford portrayed Phyllis, who is often Sharon’s nemesis, softening and being there for Sharon in her time of need.
