Y&R Star Melissa Claire Egan Announces Her New Son Has Arrived

Melissa Claire Egan has more than a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work as Chelsea on The Young and the Restless to celebrate this year. The actress and her husband, Matt Katrosar, have welcomed their second child into the world.

Melissa Claire Egan: It’s A Boy

Melissa Claire Egan and her husband Matt, an executive at Telly, released in joint Instagram posts the arrival of their second child, another son. “Meet Jake Joseph Katrosar!” Egan posted on social media. “Born 7/14/23. Welcome to the world sweet boy. A few weeks early, but we’re so happy to have you and call you ours and love you forever!”

Jake joins big brother Caden who was born almost two years ago on August 21, 2021. Egan’s castmates and daytime pals are already weighing in with comments. “Congratulations and so much love to you and your boys!!!!” posted Eileen Davidson (Ashley). Wrote Greg Rikaart (Kevin): “You guys!!!! ❤️❤️❤️.”

Daytime Friends Say Congratulations

Melissa Ordway (Abby) shared, “Omg!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Love you and can’t wait to meet beautiful baby boy!!!!! 💙💙💙💙.” Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa, Days of our Lives) added: “And wishing you a swift recovery ❤️.” Using mostly emojis to express his feelings, James Hyde (ex-Jeremy) posted: “Congratulations 🎉🎈🍾🎊!!!!!”

Egan’s pregnancy wasn’t written into the show. There’s no word yet on Egan taking a maternity leave from the show or how that will impact airtime for Chelsea. The actress made the daytime scene back in 2006 as Annie Novak on All My Children. She remained with the show until early 2011. She reprised the part for some farewell appearances in July of that year after it was announced that AMC was ending its historic 41-year run on AMC.

Melissa Claire Egan: Chelsea’s Origins

In November 2011, Egan debuted as Chelsea Lawson, a woman paid by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to cause trouble in Billy (then, Billy Miller; now, Jason Thompson) and Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) relationship. Chelsea and Billy’s tryst resulted in the birth of their son, Johnny (Paxton Mishkind.) Over the years, Chelsea has been involved with Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Adam (Mark Grossman).
