About a year ago, The Young and the Restless star Jess Walton lost her husband of 40 years, John James, after a short illness with terminal liver cancer. James was the founder and president of the Grief Recovery Institute, and their son Cole took over as its leader.
Jess Walton Marks Painful Milestone
The Jill Foster Abbott Atkinson actress took to Instagram to share her thoughts as she marked this difficult milestone.
“It’s been a year since I lost the love of my life. He was the best thing that ever happened to me, and his death was the worst. But oh my God, I had 40 years of this extraordinary man! Thank you, John James, for loving me and sharing your life with me.”
Several of her co-stars and former co-stars shared their support for Jess Walton as she passed the one-year mark after her husband’s death. Y&R’s official Instagram account replied simply with three hearts.
Former Cain Ashby actor, Daniel Goddard replied, “How is it been a year! You are loved by so many and so was John.❤️🙏”
“I love you Jess!! ❤️ John was an original. A beautiful man. Your union was precious ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” wrote Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers).

Lauralee Bell (Christine Williams) sent her thoughts and love to Walton as she remembered her late husband, and Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) and Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) also sent their love.
“2 beautiful humans and the most beautiful love story. I love you Jess. ❤️❤️❤️,” remarked former Avery Bailey Clark actress Jessica Collins.
