The Young and the Restless star Courtney Hope stood up for herself and others recently when she responded to abhorrent and hateful comments on a post that the soap shared about her on-screen alter ego, Sally Spectra and Nick Newman.
Courtney Hope Calls Out Hate And Ignorance
Earlier in August, the official Y&R Twitter account shared a daily post teasing a moment between Sally and Nick (Joshua Morrow). Another Twitter user responded with plenty of rude things about Sally and Hope herself. The commenter wrote several harsh things, including an insinuation that the actress is transgender, which seems to be a big part of what crossed the line for Hope.
“Never in my life have I seen such hatred spewed at myself, or any individual for that matter. Your comments are unwarranted & completely ignorant, not to mention transphobic — which is intolerable. Your obsession with criticizing & bullying me is downright pathological. Get help,” Courtney Hope replied.
Several fans responded with positive words for Hope and her character, and more than a few mentioned that they blocked the user who shared the offensive words. While more than one soap opera, including Y&R’s sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful, where she originated the character, has had transgender storylines, neither Sally nor Courtney Hope is transgender.

She isn’t the only daytime star to speak out about online bullying recently. Taylor Hayes actor Krista Allen also recently called out bad behavior online, and she revealed that B&B is stepping up its game to curtail such conduct. It’s time for fans to clean up their act and use civility, especially regarding the actors.
