We can’t help but wonder if Adam Newman lost his freedom on The Young and the Restless in order to give his portrayer his?
Adam received a 30-year prison sentence soon after actor Justin Hartley booked a role on the new primetime show, This Is Us with Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia. There’s a lot of buzz associated with this show, so it could end up a big hit for NBC. If that’s the case, it may become hard for Hartley to shoot both shows.
Out of Action
Since it’s on a rival network, there won’t be as much motivation to accommodate each other’s schedules. This could cause a problem, and Y&R may end up the loser. So, it makes sense to have Adam out of the action for a while. If he weren’t in prison, it would be hard to rationalize not seeing Adam front and center. The character has played a huge role in Genoa City happenings since he first showed up in town back in 2008 (albeit, as a different actor).
While we first took notice of Hartley on the NBC soap opera Passions in 1999, he is no stranger to primetime. He appeared on several seasons of Smallville as Green Arrow, and in multi-episode arcs on such hit shows as Emily Owens, Revenge, and Mistresses.
What will become of Adam if Hartley does have to leave the show? Another actor could certainly be brought in or perhaps another one could return? Either way, the character is too complex and interesting to be left sitting in a corner of some cell. Let us know what you think about this in the comments.
