The Young and the Restless star Mishael Morgan recently announced that she’d be taking a break from Genoa City in order to heal from an eye injury. Then, word broke that Karla Mosley, best known as Maya on The Bold and the Beautiful, would be stepping in to play Amanda. Now, before Mosley’s even aired, there’s been a new development!

Mishael Morgan – Back on Set

“First day back and It’s like riding a bike!” shared Morgan on social media, announcing her return to work at YR. “#yr @cbstv @youngandrestlesscbs.” The show’s about a month to six weeks from tape to air, so viewers could see Morgan back onscreen in late May — possibly even earlier if the show juggled the taping schedule to accommodate the actress’s schedule.

On March 18, Morgan tweeted out that she’d injured her eye and had an emergency eye surgery. Part of her recovery necessitated her lying down, face first. Therefore, she took a hiatus and the show invited Mosley to come onboard and play Amanda for a bit.

As Guiding Light’s Christina, Mosley had to be conscious of medical terminology as she was a pre-med student. At YR, she’ll likely have to be knowledgeable with legalese, given that Amanda has agreed to be the lead on a team that’s looking to keep her maternal grandfather Sutton Ames (Jack Landron) out of jail.

Mosley shared her gratitude on her social media account about how happy she was to be briefly stepping in as Amanda. “[N]ot to fear, the incomparable @mishaelmorgan is on the mend and will be returning soon,” Mosley posted after her visit to YR began. “Thank you for the warm welcome, dear soap fans!”

Morgan kept her followers apprised of her condition, letting them know that her recovery would take time, but that she would power through and be back at work as soon as possible.

“I’m still here, still healing, still growing and always learning,” she shared in a post. “Although my vision is still blurred my lessons are becoming clearer. I find it interesting that every time I make decisions in my life I am met with challenges that cause me to reevaluate everything, but ultimately leads me to the same conclusion, but with more clarity.”

Check out the posts below and stay tuned to YR to watch Amanda’s story continue. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
