It’s been 16 years since The Young and the Restless star Brian Gaskill’s last stint on broadcast daytime TV. That’s when he played Reva Shayne and Billy Lewis’s son Dylan Lewis on Guiding Light. And now the actor is starting 2024 off strong celebrating two major events this month including a very special day.
Happy Birthday, Brian Gaskill
That’s because he was born January 22, 1970, in Honolulu, Hawaii, which means the daytime TV veteran turns 54 today! While Hawaii was his birth state, Gaskill actually grew up on the mainland, in New Jersey.
After graduating from the prestigious SUNY Purchase Acting Conservatory in 1993, Gaskill landed a role on the Melrose Place spinoff, Models, Inc. The short-lived series starred Dallas legend, Linda Gray (read what co-star Patrick Duffy said was his most ridiculous Dallas story here).
A few of his early small screen credits included the TV version of the iconic hit movie Clueless, Mike Hammer, Private Eye, and Diagnosis Murder.
But his daytime drama debut happened in 1995, when he played Bobby Warner on ABC’s All My Children. Later, he booked one of his most memorable roles, the angel Rafe Kovich, on Port Charles. His popularity on the show happened when the soap experimented with a supernatural universe. Amongst the humans lived angels, vampires, and vampire slayers.
Port Charles was cancelled in 2003 after which Gaskill snagged roles on a succession of CBS soaps. He appeared in The Bold and the Beautiful, As the World Turns, and GL. Back then, his GL run wrapped up in 2008. Now he’s joined Y&R, having first aired in early January. Happy New Year to Gaskill!
On Y&R, the father of one plays Seth, who grows close with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) after becoming her AA sponsor. However, there’s a hint of mystery behind this character especially since it looks like he’s battling his demons as much as Nikki is. “Seth’s not perfect or ‘Mr. Goody Two-Shoes.’ My goal is to keep Seth human and complicated,” Gaskill recently told Soap Hub.
Soap fans with a keen eye may recognize him from his early season appearances on the Daytime Emmy-winning digital and streaming drama series, The Bay. Plus, he’s a well-rounded, eclectic, and talented creative type. He spends his non-acting time writing screenplays, poetry, and painting.
Soap Hub would like to wish Brian Gaskill a very happy birthday and you can too by sharing your favorite memory of his work or if you’ve met him personally in the comments section.
