The Young and the Restless celebrates its 50th anniversary on March 26, 2023. The soap opera aired its very first episode that same day in 1973. The soap originally broadcast five half-hour episodes each week, and it expanded to one hour on February 4, 1980. As part of this significant milestone, some of the Y&R cast looks back at their most memorable storylines through the years.

Christian Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin) open the video, which you can see below. They appreciate how amazing it is that the soap opera lasted 50 years with plenty more stories to tell.

Greg Rikaart, who portrays Kevin Fisher, noted that he appreciated when the soap took a social position on things that happen in the real world. Ultimately, many cast members, including Lauralee Bell (Christine Williams), credited Bill Bell with creating something so enduring that became such a part of the culture.

“There’s something about this being the only medium where you can literally watch somebody for decades and grow along with them,” notes Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott).

The Young and the Restless kicks off its anniversary today, March 23, with special episodes, and viewers are invited along with residents of Genoa City, both past and present, to attend the party of the year!

Supercouple Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) host a glamorous masquerade ball. It promises to be a night to remember with appearances from fan favorites. Watch closely as secrets are revealed that will forever change the lives of the residents of Genoa City.
