The Newmans were really nervous on the January 7 episode of The Young and the Restless. Faith was worried about her mom, and Nikki was worried about Ian. Nick and Victor reassured them. But is there something neither Newman knows?
Safe and Sound
Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) calmed his near-hysterical daughter down by reminding Faith (Reylynn Caster) that Grandpa’s security was watching every inch of the ranch, and no one could get on the property without them knowing.
At the same time, Victor (Eric Braeden) soothed Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) anxiety by boasting that his security team was the best in the world and that they were safer here than anyone anywhere ever. So chill out, ladies, OK?

I Don’t Think That Word Means What You Think It Means
Are Victor and Nick new here? Did they miss the part where Ian (Ray Wise) has been coming and going from the ranch for months? Tampering with medication? Did they miss all the times Jordan (Colleen Zenk) just showed up to taunt them? Or all the people who have snuck in over the years? (We’re not even discussing that Victor’s supposedly crack security team didn’t know he’d smuggled Jordan onto the property, so observant, they are not.)
Is this a brand-new team? A better one? And, if so, how can Victor know they’re any good?
There Are No Strings On Me
Has it, even once over the years, crossed Victor’s mind that it’s his security team that’s the problem? They are very, very bad at their jobs. Or…they are working against him. Now, granted, the idea that he might not be universally beloved is not something Victor is physically capable of entertaining. But…just for the sake of argument…what if Victor’s staff isn’t working for him, but for someone else?
Does Victor strike you as the generous employer type? Do we think they have good medical coverage? Ample vacation days? Or do we assume Victor figures the privilege of working for him is salary enough? Which means they are very likely to be bribed. By someone with a grudge against Victor. Which is…pretty much everybody. Victor thinks he’s calling all the shots. But what if there’s a higher power?
