Ultimately, Billy fired Phyllis because her neediness got her into trouble. But something interesting happened at the end of the Tuesday, April 29 episode of Young and the Restless: Phyllis suffered a panic attack.
Tough Woman
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) was the type of woman you feared. She was tough and experienced. She could work her way around a computer if she had to. Even though she had a checkered past, Phyllis had a heart of gold. She was obsessed with the people she loved. Unfortunately, her obsessions would get the best of her.
Right now, Phyllis seems fixated on Billy (Jason Thompson), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Daniel (Michael Graziadei). She’s also been obsessed with getting what she wants. Phyllis likes to be in control, but she can’t control all the circumstances in her life, including her kids.
What Could Happen Next
Phyllis always has a backup plan in case her second plan fails. But at the end of Tuesday’s episode, she didn’t look like she had a plan. She looked like she was admitting defeat, panicking about her future. It seems like Phyllis is headed for a breakdown.
This has been a long time coming. Phyllis still hasn’t recovered when all of Genoa City shunned her after she staged her own murder mystery. Then, she nearly died when she was locked in that room with Sharon (Sharon Case). She has yet to cope with the trauma that’s built up over the years. Instead, she thought work would be enough to distract her.
Who Will Help Her?
Phyllis is focused on Daniel’s problems because she feels she has control over them. She wanted to feel like she had control over something, even though her life was out of control. But who will be there for her? Will Sharon encourage Phyllis to face her trauma? Or, will it be Nick, who could bring back the infamous love triangle? Unfortunately, it won’t be Summer since Allison Lanier announced her exit from Y&R.
