What’s Alan’s Agenda On Young and the Restless?

On the Tuesday, May 14 episode of The Young and the Restless, Tucker entreated Alan to stick around Genoa City. While the psychiatrist played things close to his chest, Tucker revealed a lot about himself and his feelings for Ashley to Alan.

Is Alan For Real?

Alan (Christopher Cousins) put on his therapist hat when Tucker (Trevor St. John) found him at the Genoa City Athletic Club. He mostly stayed quiet and allowed Tucker to spill everything about Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) recent behavior, asking just a few leading questions.

Although Alan planned to stick around Genoa City, he allowed Tucker to believe he planned to leave. That resulted in Tucker revealing his real feelings of guilt when it came to Ashley (read about her history of mental breakdowns).

However, when Alan met with Ashley (who was Belle at the time) at Society, he didn’t seem to be there for any reason other than as a friend. He told Ashley/Belle that Tucker was entitled, and he didn’t plan to help Tucker ensure that Ashley got help. Was this just a strategy to try to get Ashley’s alters to trust him so he could get to the bottom of the whole situation? Or is Alan actually just hoping to have a personal relationship with Ashley?

When they went to Chancellor Park, Ashley/Belle had a difficult time remembering the details of Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper, who we miss), and Alan asked her a bit about it. Instead of answering, Ashley/Belle tried to distract Alan by mentioning she wanted to kiss him. It wasn’t quite clear how Alan planned to handle that, but his next actions may be quite telling.

Perhaps Alan is in Genoa City to try to help his good friend. However, there’s a possibility that Alan is there to take advantage of the situation. He’s appeared out of nowhere, and it wouldn’t be that inconceivable that Alan has other motivations that Ashley’s family and exes don’t know anything about. Perhaps he’s there to get revenge on Tucker or Ashley or somebody else?
